LIGHTHOUSE
LIGHTHOUSE was the result of a week research and development residency at Carnagie House.
The installation opened during the Light Festival (Bridgend, 6-7 November 2015) |

When I visited Nash point’s lighthouse last February, I confirmed the potential of working on an installation based on this type of buildings. They are many things: a landmark standing on its own but geometrically related to other lighthouses’ position, a rhythmic moving light, a warning for danger, a ray of light crossing the darkness, a circular staircase...
Artistically, I aim to come out with an abstract code inspired by the lighthouses that allows me to create a spatial and musical composition. The question to raise is the relationship that appears when we, travellers, step inside a space defined by rays of light. These rays, some static and some in movement, are there to make us aware of our position. But, what happens when we change of position? What happens when they change? What happens when they disappear? I like to think of the installation as a choreography, a living sensitive landscape projected onto walls, floor and ceiling and in which we are all visitors free to walk and interact.
